BEFORE Humboldt PUBLIC SOCIOLOGY

I transferred to Humboldt from a community college in Pasadena (SoCal) then received a BA in Sociology & Minor in Ethnic Studies from this beautiful institution in May 2015

WHY Humboldt PUBLIC SOCIOLOGY

For as long as I can remember I had my heart set on joining the Peace Corps. As graduation day came closer I began to have second thoughts of whether I wanted to be an agent of neocolonialism, so I began to do a little digging to find out what I could about the program here at Humboldt. I talked to various grad students in the program as well as faculty, and decided to go for it and apply. I love the nature, weather, the activist community that is present on this campus, and the level of support from the professors and faculty. It encouraged me to stick around and apply to the program. Never in a million years would I have thought I would be in a MA program, but here I am! Si se puede!

FAVORITE PLACE TO SEE/VISIT IN HUMBOLDT COUNTY

I don't see many places other than the library or BSS (the fifth floor view in the BSS is amazing!) But if I had the time and transportation I would try to visit the local beaches and rivers. The local parks are also great for picnics, and Scoops is always nice for a vegan treat.
