Research Interests

With a double degree in History and Ethnic Studies, Fernando's research focuses on the intersection of immigration policies and community self-activity, particularly the impact of the 2008 ICE raid in Humboldt County.

Education/Career Goals

Fernando Paz is the Campus and Community Development Coordinator with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Cal Poly Humboldt and has extensive experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, including contributing to the development of Cal Poly Humboldt's Institutional Anti-Racism Action Plan (IARAP). Fernando has also served as the Coordinator of El Centro Académico Cultural and has been actively involved in social justice organizing through various roles, including work with True North Organizing Network, PICO's "LA RED," and as a co-founder of PARA and Centro del Pueblo.
